4 Nights: Wellness & Northern Lights

The tour is designed to witnessing the amazing Northern Lights as well as enjoying the warmth of Icelandic hot thermal water in the midst of the winter.

The Blue lagoon (not included) has become a world famous wellness and spa attraction, and the Riverside Spa in Hotel Selfoss is designed and orchestrated in the sense of Icelandic nature while the theme of ice and fire underlining the extremes of Icelandic nature.

DAY 1 | WELCOME TO ICELAND

Once in Reykjavik, the northernmost capital of the world, head to the hotel for check-in: Hôtel Islande, Armula 9, 108 Reykjavík. Overnight in Reykjavik. Accommodation at the 3* Ísland Hotel, or at similar hotel, on a bed-and-breakfast basis.

DAY 2 | GOLDEN CIRCLE

After breakfast (included), the guide will meet you in the hotel lobby at 8.45 am. We tour the renowned Golden Circle, including a visit to the famous Geysir hot spring area, where Strokkur erupts every 5-10 minutes. We also visit the Gullfoss (Golden) waterfall and Thingvellir national park, where the forces of the Great Atlantic Rift are clearly visible. This is where the North American and European tectonic plates drift apart at a rate of 2-6 cm per year. Thingvellir is also the place where the ancient Icelandic parliament was established in 930. It is an area of truly outstanding beauty, as well as geological and historical significance. After visiting these world famous sights, we drive through the much greener landscapes of South Iceland to our accommodation Selfoss, a town of 8,000 inhabitants. There, you may enjoy a welcome drink and a short film introducing the Northern Lights in a proper cinema. Weather permitting, a hunt for the Northern light will be in the evening in the Selfoss vicinity. Overnight in Eyravegur. Accommodation at the 4* Hotel Selfoss, or at similar hotel, on a bed-and-breakfast basis.

DAY 3 | VOLCANOES AND WATERFALLS

After breakfast (included), it's time to travel along the south coast white glacier tongues, waterfalls and rugged hills around the infamous volcano Eyjafjallajökull. The day is crowned by the magnificent Katla Ice Cave. Overnight in Eyravegur. Accommodation at the 4* Hotel Selfoss, or at similar hotel, on a bed-and-breakfast basis.

DAY 4 | BLUE LAGOON AND REYKJAVIK CITY TOUR

Wake up early for breakfast (included) and get ready to drive the south coast to Reykjanes peninsula. There, we pass Krysuvik a hot thermal area before arriving at the area’s jewel, the Blue Lagoon. Then is time for a bathing where you can enjoy soaking in the mineral rich water with its fine silica mud experience (bathing admission not included). The Blue lagoon is on the National Geographic list of 25 Wonders of the World claiming it is a geothermal gift of nature. From the Blue Lagoon, we head to Reykjavik for a City Tour that will introduce the city’s main landmarks. Overnight in Reykjavik. Accommodation at the 3* Ísland Hotel, or at similar hotel, on a bed-and-breakfast basis.

DAY 5 | GOODBYE ICELAND

 Have your last hotel breakfast (included) and check out from the hotel. End of services.
