The Samokov is in a great location – nestled among old pine forests, near the resort centre and opposite the main Yastrebets gondola.

It’s a short walk to shops, bars and restaurants, but there’s so much on-site, you may find yourself rarely venturing out after a day out on the slopes. There’s a huge indoor swimming pool, plus a sauna, steam room, hot tub and fitness centre. You can also visit shops, bars, a nightclub, bowling alley and games room with billiards and table tennis.

The rooms are basic but they've got great views of the town and mountains.

You can also enjoy the views while browsing the breakfast and dinner buffets. And if you choose a twin room with a balcony, you can upgrade to Superior Dining to enjoy 4-course dinners from the à la carte menu. There’s also a barbecue terrace and bar next to the pool, a sports bar beside the fitness centre and a lobby bar for snacks and drinks throughout the day. And with its own onsite nightclub, you might not even end up leaving the hotel.

It’s not all après though, as the hotel runs its own ski club for children aged between 4 and 7 years, getting them having fun while learning the sport.

Borovets is Bulgaria’s oldest, most famous and popular ski resort. It's situated on the northern slopes of Rila Mountain, below the Balkans’ highest peak of Musala. With all this beautiful scenery surrounding you, you’re guaranteed some great views while on the slopes. The village has a nice mix of hotels (the majority within easy walking distance of the lifts) as well as shops, bars and nightclubs. If you fancy a change of scenery for dinner, there are lots of great restaurants in town serving excellent local and international cuisine. Just watch out if you're toasting with the Bulgarian national drink, Rakia – it's pretty potent.

Borovets is a great place to learn to ski or snowboard and the ski school is excellent. The 200+ instructors – including many former professional skiers – will help hone and develop your skills until you feel confident to venture out on your own.

The 58km of skiing in Borovets is spread across three distinct ski centres - all linked by lifts from the centre. The pistes carve their way through pine forests, so there's good visibility even on heavy snow days. Sitnyakovo Central ski centre, right above the town, is the largest sector – with a mix of gentle, winding slopes, progressive pistes and a couple of tricky downhills. Markudjik ski centre is your high altitude option, with skiing up to 2,550m, while Yastrebets is where you’ll find what many consider Borovets’ best slopes, including the FIS runs, as well as the Borosport Snow Park. The snow park has 3 lanes of kickers, boxes and rails of different sizes and difficulty. And you don't even have to head home when the sun goes down - night skiing is available every day from 6-9pm.

There’s been heavy investment in snow-making equipment, just in case mother nature isn't feeling generous. Over the past few years, Borovets has doubled the number of cannons available to cover over 60% of the ski area.

You can expect lively evenings around here; Borovets is well known for its nightlife, which is very easy on the wallet - a pint here can cost little more than a pound during happy hour. And the party continues into the early hours every night. If you want a more traditional night out, look for restaurants and taverns offering live folk music and Horo dancing.

Guests can change the booking fee-free up to 12 weeks before the departure date as standard if Guests flying with TUI Airways (terms and conditions apply). And for bookings between December 2021 and April 2022, you can change fee-free up to 28 days before your departure. 

If Guests holiday has to be cancelled for reasons relating to COVID-19, Guests will get a full cash refund for the amount you paid.

Safety Advice : 

Safety standards for balconies and public walkways are different in Bulgaria – the railings may be lower and they could have ornamental features you wouldn’t see in the UK or Ireland. Please take extra care on or around them, and make sure children aged under 12 years are always supervised.
